Why is Eric absent on NCIS:Los Angeles ?

NCIS:Los Angeles star Barret Foa won't be appearing in opening episodes of season 11.

CBS has confirmed that the actor who plays Eric Beale on the criminal investigation show will be absent for five episodes.This is because the actor is set to star in a stage production of Angels in America at the Repertory Theatre in St. Louis,Missouri.A CBS representative told TV Line that the character's disappearance will be woven into the narrative of new season.
